Business Opportunity

what are some free or low cost ways to promote a business opportunity in a 7 trillion dollar industry?
I work as a representative for a million dollar company that needs more reps and agents to handle bookings in the travel industry. I want to get the word out to as many people as possible of a great opportunity to Make Money saving on personal travel and helping others save money which makes the rep or agent more money. Its a Great Business with no hassles or limits. The company covers bookings for all types of travel(cruises, flights, car rentals, hotels and more). You get a free website to promote your business and can make money on different levels of the business.
Getting traffic is a combination of a lot of things. The key to success is to create great content that visitors want to use, Search Engines will love and other websites will naturally link to. Of course, it’s easier said than done.
You can use pay per click advertising in the search engines to reach audiences looking for your products. You can use Google Adwords http://www.google.com/adwords or Yahoo http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com
Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors You Need at the least cost possible:
1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement – if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.
2. Make it easy for users to recommend Your Site. Viral marketing is very important — and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that’s additional traffic that you get for FREE!
Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html
3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.
If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com’s “Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day.” http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm
4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to Your Website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.

We’ll never know, but we can say with some assurance that based on recorded history, dumb remarks have been with us since the invention of writing. Young or old, rich or poor, famous or unknown, people of all generations and cultures have seized the opportunity to say something dumb – stupidity has always been an equal opportunity employer. In celebration of such mental lapses and pure idiocy, here is a collection of stupid utterances, unintentional and otherwise, from the worlds of politics, radio, television, newspapers, show business, sports, and literature – and everywhere else people can – and have – put their feet in their mouths. |

A Nation by Design $92.69 According to the national mythology, the United States has long opened its doors to people from across the globe, providing a port in a storm and opportunity for any who seek it. Yet the history of immigration to the United States is far different. Even before the xenophobic reaction against European and Asian immigrants in the late nineteenth century, social and economic interest groups worked to manipulate immigration policy to serve their needs. In A Nation by Design, Aristide Zolberg explores American immigration policy from the colonial period to the present, discussing how it has been used as a tool of nation building. A Nation by Design argues that the engineering of immigration policy has been prevalent since early American history. However, it has gone largely unnoticed since it took place primarily on the local and state levels, owing to constitutional limits on federal power during the slavery era. Zolberg profiles the vacillating currents of opinion on immigration throughout American history, examining separately the roles played by business interests, labor unions, ethnic lobbies, and nativist ideologues in shaping policy. He then examines how three different types of migration–legal migration, illegal migration to fill low-wage jobs, and asylum-seeking–are shaping contemporary arguments over immigration to the United States. A Nation by Design is a thorough, authoritative account of American immigration history and the political and social factors that brought it about. With rich detail and impeccable scholarship, Zolberg’s book shows how America has struggled to shape the immigration process to construct the kind of population it desires. |

Alchemy of a Leader: Combining Western and Japanese Management Skills to Transform Your Company $29.95 A great challenge – and an even greater opportunity – awaits managers. Like the alchemist who transforms something common into something special, today’s business leaders now have the power, says John Rehfeld, to create in our workplaces an entirely new business culture, one that combines and transforms the best of both Western and Japanese management styles. First as vice president and general manager at Toshiba, where he helped build the lap-top business from zero to $350 million in annual sales in less than a decade, and more recently as president of Seiko Instruments USA, John Rehfeld discovered how to improve Western management style by combining it with some of the most successful techniques he learned from the Japanese. In Alchemy of a Leader he shares these insights, presenting literally dozens of specific, effective practices that can be applied right away by managers and entrepreneurs in every industry who are seeking to compete more effectively. The result is a synthesis that’s neither totally Western nor Japanese but uniquely suited for today’s global business world. In Alchemy of a Leader you will learn how to utilize kaizen (the quest for continuous improvement) – one of the most powerful management tools you will ever encounter – and how to adapt it to Western companies; why you should abandon your annual cycle and adopt a six-month planning and budgeting cycle; how to use aggressive patience to move the decision process along; permanent entrepreneurialism: How to make the start-up mode permanent by continually refining and communicating the mission of your organization to employees, customers, and the community; how to use strategic silence as a way to enhancecommunication; …and much more. One of the first books written by a Western manager with extensive experience as a senior executive in a Japanese company, Alchemy of a Leader provides a unique cross-cultural learning experience. Like other people, managers in today’s business world are produc |

Architect of Quality $168.15 No one in the last hundred years has had more influence on the worldwide practice of quality in business than Dr. Joseph Juran. His work is the foundation for much of the quality movement of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries–everything from Total Quality Management to Six Sigma. The teachings and writings of Dr. Juran have had a profound impact on the products we use every day, and his books are considered fundamental references by quality professionals. In this revealing autobiography, Juran retraces his inspiring life journey–from an impoverished, tragic childhood in a tar-papered shack to the revered man who helped invent and champion quality management systems, quality tools, and teams long before they became standard practice. Architect of Quality delves deep into Juran’s motivations, sharing for the first time how the early hardships he faced and his relentless, aggressive spirit shaped his character and fueled his determination to succeed.Born in Braila, Romania, in 1904, Juran left his native country as a child with his impoverished family for the Land of Opportunity, settling in Minneapolis. During the Depression his shoemaker father took up bootlegging, while Juran worked for the Minnesota State Prohibition Committee. After Juran’s mother died his family fell apart, leaving his sisters in an orphanage. Young Juran moved with his father to the Minneapolis red light district and lived among the bums. Somehow, despite these abject beginnings, Juran became the first in his family to earn a college degree–and went on to achieve more than he could have ever dreamed possible.Juran describes his rapid success and dramatic failure in his early years at WesternElectric’s famed Hawthorne plant, relives his experiences working on the war effort in Washington D.C. in the 1940s, and reveals how he developed the core ideas behind the quality movement. He also helped advise postwar Japan–which would subsequently become the world quality, leader, and |

What is their perception of their job. Numerous interviews with working strippers accompany extensive research inthe literature. Some steeppers see stripping as simply a job, others view it with a degree of embarrassment, while many see it as an opportunity for empowerment . Birth and Fortune $32.26 In this influential work, Richard A. Easterlin shows how the size of a generation–the number of persons born in a particular year–directly and indirectly affects the personal welfare of its members, the make-up and breakdown of the family, and the general well being of the economy. [Easterlin] has made clear, I think unambiguously, that the baby-boom generation is economically underprivileged merely because of its size. And in showing this, he demonstrates that population size can be as restrictive as a factor as sex, race, or class on equality of opportunity in the U.S. –Jeffrey Madrick, Business Week |

The result is a major threat for nearly every business and a significant opportunity for a few. This book will be the first marketing strategy book to develop and leverage the concept of brand relevance. To remain relevant, a firm can create a new category or subcategory– such as iPod, Cirque du Soleil, and eBay did– where competitors are eliminated. Or a firm can redefine an existing category or subcategory by creating or elevating an offering feature or characteristic–as Prius created a subcategory defined by gas mileage and technology, or Westin did with its Heavenly Bed. In either case, a firm can create or own a new business arena or submarket in which some or all competitors are not relevant. Concurrent Marketing $6.27 Companies today have the capability to develop higher quality products and services faster than ever before. Advances in production quality, cycle time, supply chain arrangements, and customer information – all radical improvements in upstream efforts to serve the customer – have altered business competition. Concurrent Marketing is the first book to show why this competitive environment demands a new, more coordinated marketing effort downstream in which field sales and service take on increased strategic significance. In such an environment, product management, sales, and service groups must interact more often, more quickly, and in greater depth across an increased number of products, markets, and accounts. Concurrent Marketing explains how companies can integrate the activities of these three groups and leverage functional expertise for competitive advantage. Cespedes addresses the importance of specialist expertise in cross-functional activities; the role and limits of incentives in achieving flexible coordination; the relationship between individual and organizational learning in managing change; the sales force as the fulcrum of marketing efforts; and the consequences of reengineering and team work initiatives that ignore these critical issues. Concurrent marketing presents a competitive opportunity and challenge, says Cespedes, because few firms are yet organized to respond to the new realities of the marketplace. The structures, systems, and processes required to integrate product, sales, and service groups are the building blocks of organizational excellence. They also represent a key to competitive advantage for those companies willing to take the lead. |

Corporate Environmental Strategy: The Avalanche of Change Since Bhopal $15.33 One of the most devastating environmental disasters of all time, the 1984 Union Carbide plant explosion at Bhopal, India, forever changed the way corporations view environmental performance. Now, in this groundbreaking book, one of the business world’s most highly regarded environmental consultants tells the complete inside story of how, in the wake of Bhopal, four multinational corporations have successfully transformed environmental performance from a major liability to a major asset. In the process, he extracts a set of general principles which can be integrated successfully with any corporation’s strategic planning and redesign process. Writing in an accessible journalistic style, Bruce Piasecki describes how the world business community was rocked by the Bhopal debacle, and explains why some companies were plowed under by the avalanche of change that ensued, others, including Union Carbide, ARCO, AT&T, and Warner-Lambert, went on to strengthen their competitive positions. In his vivid account of the steps taken by these companies to improve environmental performance, Piasecki clearly identifies four distinct approaches to the same problem. He shows precisely how and why each company’s efforts were rewarded, not only with environmental breakthroughs but with improved financial performance as well. In a series of dramatic case histories, Piasecki reveals, for the first time, the full details of the initiatives taken at each company, including: . Union Carbide and the development of strict auditing standards; ARCO and the development of environment-friendly gasoline; AT&T and the role of strategic alliances in the initiative to eliminate CFCs from electronics production; Warner-Lambert and the drive to develop truly biodegradable plastics. At a time when the fate of many companies hinges on the environmental strategies they adopt, this book offers managers an unparalleled opportunity to learn from the success stories of four companies that have transformed themsel |

Dialogue Mapping $77.95 Dialogue mapping reflects a new approach to meetings and collaboration, in which collective intelligence is achieved through framing powerful questions and rigorous and systematic exploration of their possible answers. A key insight of this approach is that shared display of the dialogue map promotes shared understanding of and commitment to the collective result. In the first part of Dialogue Mapping, Jeffrey Conklin introduces the key concepts: Wicked problems: for which you don t really understand the problem until a solution has been formulated. Social complexity: the large number and wide diversity of stakeholders whose participation is essential to a robust outcome. Opportunity-driven problem solving: intelligent thinking is not linear! Creative cognition naturally jumps all over the problem-solution space. Shared understanding: the most expedient means for overcoming fragmentation is forging shared understanding of all aspects of the problem-solution space. The remaining sections provide a hands-on tutorial for practitioners looking for a radically inclusive approach to collective problem solving. This is an excellent guide for all those interested in durable collaborative solutions in our increasingly tough business climates today. John C. Mitchell, former President, Business Printer Division, Lexmark International, Inc. Jeff Conklin pioneered this field, showing the connection between conversations (dialogue) and solving wicked problems. His ideas are intellectually rewarding and, just as important, are tried and tested. Mark Addleson, Director, Organizational Learning Program, George MasonUniversity. What Jeff has in this book is of powerfully basic importance to improving our Collective-IQ, and thus, in my view, to helping significantly change our world to be a better place. Dream Seeking: On Nisyros a Small Greek Island $15.23 Lin and Richard, like so many people, dreamed of a life in the sun, away from the pace and problems of their stressed lives as teachers. Summer holidays in Europe were always over too quickly, and they began to feel the attraction of life in Greece. After an ‘accidental’ holiday on the small Greek island of Nisyros, albeit having been badly organised by a tour company which promptly went out of business, the spell was well and truly cast. After several more visits to the island during the holidays, ill-health caused a change in their circumstances in England. Whilst enjoying the freedom to walk, read and generally slowdown, they felt that now was the opportunity to seek their dream. Packing an elderly Landrover, Richard and Garry, the son of a friend, drove to Nisyros, whilst Lin and their daughter Sue, took the more obvious route and flew. Speaking only limited Greek on an island where so few of the inhabitants spoke little or no English, created both frustration and hilarity! Sue and her friend Amy stayed for a part of the summer, their presence causing a significant stir amongst the people of the small mountain village of Nikia where Lin, Richard and Garry had made their home. From killing the pig to burying the donkey; from cleaning rooms to repairing doors; from washing in well-water inhabited by several species of aquatic life, to dancing at the festivals, their life was filled with a variety and richness of experiences which have to be read to be believed. This year was the beginning of the realisation of their dream. |

Dutch Chicago $65 Now at least 250,000 strong, the Dutch in greater Chicago have lived for 150 years below the radar screens of historians and the general public. Here their story is told for the first time. In Dutch Chicago Robert Swierenga offers a colorful, comprehensive history of the Dutch Americans who have made their home in the Windy City since the mid-1800s.The original Chicago Dutch were a polyglot lot from all social strata, regions, and religions of the Netherlands. Three-quarters were Calvinists; the rest included Catholics, Lutherans, Unitarians, Socialists, Jews, and the nominally churched. Whereas these latter Dutch groups assimilated into the American culture around them, the Dutch Reformed settled into a few distinct enclaves — the Old West Side, Englewood, and Roseland and South Holland — where they stuck together, building an institutional infrastructure of churches, schools, societies, and shops that enabled them to live from cradle to grave within their own communities.Focusing largely but not exclusively on the Reformed group of Dutch folks in Chicago, Swierenga recounts how their strong entrepreneurial spirit and isolationist streak played out over time. Mostly of rural origins in the northern Netherlands, these Hollanders in Chicago liked to work with horses and go into business for themselves. Picking up ashes and garbage, jobs that Americans despised, spelled opportunity for the Dutch, and they came to monopolize the garbage industry. Their independence in business reflected the privacy they craved in their religious and educational life. Church services held in the Dutch language kept outsiders at bay, as did a comprehensive system of private elementary andsecondary schools intended to inculcate youngsters with the Dutch Reformed theological and cultural heritage. Not until the world wars did the forces of Americanization finally break down the walls, and the Dutch passed into the mainstream. Only in their churches today, now entirely English spe |

E-Commerce: A Platform for Integrated Marketing: A Case Study on U.S. Retailing $24.68 According to market forecasts, e-commerce will attain growing importance in the near future; the nature of business transactions is changing. However, there is little research about its advantages, challenges or what contributes to its acceptance by the public. The book identifies trends in business-to-consumer e-commerce both from the point of view of both the retailer and the customer. Additionally, it contains a case study of a well known U.S. retailer and a corresponding survey of its customers, including customer profiles, market segments and strategies. The editors show that e-commerce is far more than a mere selling and distributing channel. It is a platform for integrated marketing that takes customers’ needs into consideration while at the same time enforcing customer focus. While it may be too early to predict its ultimate impacts, e-commerce is certainly a major source of business opportunity today. The greatest threat to business may result from not taking action to participate. |

Empire And Inequality $81.1 A frequent columnist in Z Magazine, Black Commentator, and other magazines, Paul Street has closely monitored the deterioration of civil liberties since 9/11. In his new book, Street challenges the widely accepted notion that everything changed on 9/11.Empire and Inequality shows how the jetliner attacks provided a windfall opportunity to accelerate pre-existing trends towards greater global and domestic hierarchy, inequality, and repression. Street shows how the elites of American government and business used classic propaganda mechanisms in pursuit of this regressive and authoritarian agenda in the post-9/11 era. Street offers a cogent critique of the myth of the powerless state, showing that U.S. government’s cup runs over when it comes to serving the wealthy and privileged few and is empty only when it comes to meeting the needs of the non-affluent majority. Empire and Inequality is a powerful reflection on the inseparable, deepening, and mutually reinforcing relationships that exist between empire abroad and inequality and repression at home in the post 9/11 era. |

Empire Builder in the Texas Panhandle: William Henry Bush $53.02 In 1881, a Chicago-based businessman secured interest in a sprawling ranch in the heart of Texas’ great Panhandle. The celebrated Frying Pan Ranch spread across two counties and bordered what later became Amarillo, a raw frontier settlement. The land’s unlikely new owner from the North, William Henry Bush – clothing wholesaler, real estate developer, philanthropist, and fledgling cattleman – represented a new figure at the beginning of the boom era in the Western cattle industry. An outsider, he brought his business savvy and vision of civic growth to bear on America’s last frontier. In an age of unrestricted capitalism and flamboyant displays of wealth by big industry’s leaders, Bush operated quietly and unassumingly. A major real estate owner in the burned-over district of post-1871 Chicago, Bush cast his eye on opportunity in the Texas Panhandle, risking his future and his fortune on a region that had been left largely untouched by commerce. By the late 1880s, he had taken greater control over the operations at the Frying Pan Ranch and had assumed a role as an important business and civic leader in the region, pioneering in agricultural and economic diversification. Bush’s philanthropic efforts focused on the vitalization of Amarillo – helping to create a community that would come to dominate the Panhandle by the 1930s. |

Enterprising Southerners $15.21 Kenzer’s study is well-conceived and his scholarship both original and sound. The wealth of data in this book will be of enormous value to scholars interested in the Reconstruction Period . — Roger L. Ransom, University of California, RiversideMost historians agree that only a small share of southern blacks experienced economic gains in the fifty years following the Civil War. Little attention has been focused, however, on the minority who successfully acquired property and conducted business during this time. In Enterprising Southerners, Robert C. Kenzer examines the characteristics of North Carolina’s African-American population in order to explain the social and political factors that shaped economic opportunity for this group from the Civil War until 1915.In 1885, black newspaper editor George Allen Mebane circulated a questionnaire to other North Carolina landowners and merchants, hoping to document and evaluate black progress from the antebellum years through the two short decades since emancipation. This invaluable primary document, as well as tax records, business directories, credit ratings, and census reports, have enabled historian Kenzer to assemble a remarkably thorough portrait of North Carolina’s black population. Not surprisingly, he finds that African Americans who were already free before the war enjoyed greater success than their newly freed counterparts. The same held true for mulattoes, who generally prospered more than blacks; in 1870, mulattoes were four times as likely as blacks to own real estate. What is surprising, Kenzer asserts, is that his research does not support lingering theories that the heritage of slavery adversely affected blacks’performance in the market economy. Instead, he blames economic barriers to development, such as lack of capital and poorly developed markets. This study not only provides a valuable history of one state’s black population but also paves the way for similar scholarship in other southern state |
